ACUPUNCTURE FOR
Fertility & Pregnancy
Acupuncture can be a gentle yet powerful way to support fertility, conception, and a healthy pregnancy. By nourishing your body, balancing hormones, and improving circulation to the reproductive organs, treatments create an environment that encourages conception—whether naturally or alongside assisted reproductive treatments like IVF or IUI.
Acupuncture can help your body prepare for a healthy pregnancy. By restoring balance, reducing tension, and supporting overall reproductive wellness, treatments optimize your body’s natural rhythms and resilience.
Whether you are hoping to conceive naturally, navigating advanced maternal age, or working with medicated fertility cycles, treatments are tailored to meet your needs. Acupuncture can complement Western fertility treatments, enhancing comfort, reducing side effects, and supporting overall success.
Treatments focus on:
Balancing and nourishing your body – supporting hormonal harmony, regular ovulation, and menstrual health
Improving blood flow – enhancing circulation to the uterus and ovaries, which supports egg quality and implantation
Addressing underlying health factors – including thyroid imbalances, ovarian cysts, luteal phase defects, and other conditions that may impact fertility
Reducing stress and promoting emotional wellness – easing the physical and emotional strain of your fertility journey

Acupuncture During Pregnancy
Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to support your body through every stage of pregnancy. Treatments help ease common discomforts, support healthy development, and prepare your body for labor. In addition to modern understanding, we draw on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles to optimize each phase of pregnancy, supporting your body’s natural rhythms through the lens of the Five Elements.
-
The first trimester is a time of rapid growth and foundational development. In TCM, this phase is closely connected to the Earth element, which governs the Spleen (SP) and Stomach (ST) channels. Many early pregnancy symptoms—fatigue, nausea, digestive changes—reflect imbalances in Earth energy.
Acupuncture in this phase can:
Strengthen Spleen Qi to support implantation and maintain pregnancy
Reduce nausea and morning sickness
Ease fatigue and digestive discomfort
Calm emotional stress and nurture a sense of stability during this vulnerable stage
-
As your body adjusts to pregnancy, the second trimester is associated with the Fire element, which governs the Heart (HT) and Pericardium (PC) channels. This phase is often when energy stabilizes, but new challenges—like sleep disturbances, emotional fluctuations, or digestive discomfort—may arise.
Acupuncture in this phase can:
Support restful sleep and emotional balance
Aid digestion and reduce common discomforts such as heartburn
Promote overall wellness as your baby grows and begins to respond to your voice and environment
Prepare your body for the later stages of pregnancy and birth
-
The third trimester corresponds to the Wood element, which governs the Liver (LV) and Gallbladder (GB) channels. This phase is characterized by the physical expansion and preparation for birth. Tension in the sinews and pelvic area can create discomfort, while proper Wood energy helps the body stay flexible and open.
Acupuncture in this phase can:
Soften sinews and open the pelvis in preparation for labor
Relieve back pain, pelvic discomfort, swelling, or high blood pressure
Support optimal fetal positioning
Promote smooth contractions, stamina, and emotional calm for labor
In the final weeks of pregnancy, acupuncture can gently support your body as it transitions toward labor—working with your natural physiology rather than forcing a timeline. In East Asian medicine, labor is seen as a process that unfolds when the body, baby, and spirit are aligned and ready.
Acupuncture during this stage focuses on:
Softening and ripening the cervix
Supporting optimal fetal positioning, including helping turn a breech baby when appropriate
Encouraging smooth, effective contractions when baby is ready to be born
Calming the nervous system and supporting emotional steadiness during this powerful transition
Treatments are typically recommended weekly starting around 34–36 weeks, and may be offered more frequently as your due date approaches or if you are past your estimated date. These sessions build on one another, gradually preparing the body and mind for labor—supporting stamina, resilience, and confidence.
If induction is desired or medically recommended, acupuncture can be used to encourage labor naturally when the body and baby are ready, helping to reduce tension, promote effective uterine activity, and support a smoother labor experience. Even if you are past your due date, it is not too late to begin acupuncture for labor support.
Acupuncture for Labor Prep & Support
This time before birth can be emotionally intense as shifting hormones bring waves of excitement, anticipation, vulnerability, and uncertainty. Acupuncture offers grounding support—helping you feel centered, supported, and connected to your inner wisdom as you prepare to meet your baby.
In addition to acupuncture, herbal guidance and lifestyle recommendations may be offered to support this final phase of pregnancy.
As a holistic birth doula, I bring an added layer of continuity and care to this work—supporting not just the physical preparation for labor, but the emotional and spiritual aspects as well.
“Ashlee's support extends through so many different areas of expertise.
Starting halfway through my second trimester I started going to Ashlee for prenatal massages which proved to be both a physical and mental release.
When my blood pressure began to rise during my third trimester Ashlee was able to provide acupuncture and some additional guidance on natural remedies that immediately lowered my blood pressure.
Ashlee was even able to create a curriculum for doula support from afar, since she was not able to join my husband and I in the hospital.
I am so thankful for the many ways that Ashlee has already helped me and I look forward to being a client for a long time.”
