FAQ

  • Acupuncture gently engages specific points in the body to activate your natural healing response, supporting the nervous system, circulation, and regulation. These subtle yet powerful shifts help the body’s innate healing intelligence come forward—restoring balance to rhythms like sleep, digestion, energy, hormones, immunity, and emotional well-being. Guided by both physiology and Chinese Medicine, treatments address the root cause of imbalance. Rather than chasing symptoms, acupuncture creates the conditions for your body to remember how to heal, inviting alignment, resilience, and harmony.

  • Most people experience little to no discomfort. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, and many clients describe sensations as a gentle pressure, warmth, or a subtle tingling. Many find the sessions deeply relaxing, and it’s common to drift into a restful, restorative state during treatment.

  • That’s completely okay! Acupuncture needles are very different from the needles used in a doctor’s office—they’re hair-thin and inserted with a gentle, precise technique. If needles feel overwhelming, we can adjust your treatment or use non-needling options while still creating a safe, effective, and relaxing session.

  • Yes. Acupuncture is safe when performed by a licensed practitioner. Needles are sterile, single-use, and all treatments are designed with your comfort and safety in mind. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as a safe, effective therapy for many health concerns, and it has been practiced safely worldwide for thousands of years.

  • Each person’s needs are unique. Acute concerns may respond quickly, while chronic patterns often benefit from more consistent care over time. We typically recommend starting with weekly treatments for about 6–8 weeks to help the body build momentum, then adjusting frequency as your body responds. As your main concerns improve, ongoing sessions—whether biweekly or monthly—can support maintenance, wellness, and prevention. I’ll help you find a rhythm that feels natural for your body and your life.

Fertility & Pregnancy

  • Yes! Acupuncture can be a wonderful support throughout pregnancy. Certain points are avoided at different stages, and we use extra pillows and props to keep you comfortable. Treatments can help with common pregnancy concerns, relaxation, and overall wellness for both you and your baby.

  • Acupuncture can support fertility in many ways. While it’s widely used for overall women’s health, it has also been shown to enhance outcomes for those undergoing IVF. Treatments may help improve circulation to the uterus, support healthy hormone balance, encourage regular ovulation and menstruation, reduce stress, and address underlying health factors that could affect fertility. By gently supporting your body’s natural rhythms, acupuncture creates an environment for greater reproductive wellness and overall balance.

Preparing for a Session

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing so that areas like your arms, legs, and back are easy to access. Eat a light meal beforehand, and hydrate well. If you forget, we have water and light snacks available at the studio. A calm, relaxed state helps your body respond fully to treatment.

  • Your first session is an opportunity to slow down and tune into your body. We’ll discuss your health history, goals, and current concerns, then begin treatment. Depending on your needs, this may include acupuncture, cupping, acupressure, or other supportive techniques. I may also provide guidance on nutrition, movement, or lifestyle practices to extend the benefits of your session.

  • After acupuncture, gentle movement like walking, stretching, yoga, or swimming is encouraged. Avoid intense or high-impact exercise for a few hours so your body can integrate the treatment. Drinking water and replenishing electrolytes after activity can also support the effects of your session.

  • Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best. You’ll have privacy and can adjust your clothing as needed to ensure access for treatment while staying comfortable and modest.
